One very usefully tool you can use when writing a paper is cause and effect. Some of the benefits of using cause and effect is that it describes exactly what happens and why it happened. You can do this with other rhetorical tools like flash backs and maybe a little foreshadowing. Cause and effect is a great tool because it feels an entire story or maybe just a very important part of the story.
The structure of cause and effects is set up like this starting fist with the contributing causes, the main cause or causes then the immediate effect. Then even after the immediate effect you will get remote effects and then the ripple effects. For example if the immediate effect is getting a speeding ticket the ripple effects could be not being able to pay for rent or your insurance going up. You can use this structuring to help identify and analyze a cause and effect in a narrative.
